As rack power densities exceed 100 kW and CDU systems scale to serve 20+ racks, the airflow requirements of individual RDHx doors and CDU cabinets increase beyond what arrays of small fans can efficiently handle. The 172mm format provides:

Large CDU Cabinet Cooling (EC version recommended): The 172×51mm EC fan with integrated inverter supports direct connection to 200–240V AC supplies, making it ideal for floor-standing CDU cabinets. EC motors provide 30–40% lower power consumption versus AC motors at equivalent airflow — with modulating speed control for efficient partial-load operation.
RDHx for Ultra-High-Density Racks (DC version): For racks exceeding 100 kW (NVIDIA GB200 NVL72, AMD Instinct MI300X multi-node), the 172×51mm DC fan in a 2×3 or 2×4 array delivers sufficient static pressure and airflow to active RDHx doors handling extreme heat loads.
